Antelope Park is a unique game reserve in Gweru set in over 3000 acres of open savannah grassland offering various Accommodation and Activities.
Known as one of Southern Africa’s Most Intriguing Destinations, and voted as “Zimbabwe’s Leading Private Game Reserve” in the 2016 AND 2017 World Travel Awards, awarded The Green Trophy for the Environmental Award, First Runner Up Best Safari Camp Tented and First Runner up in The Best Self Catering category at the 2017 AZTA Awards ( Association Of Zimbabwe Travel Agents.)
Antelope Park is home to the world famous African Lion and Environmental Research Trust (ALERT) lion rehabilitation programme which is a multi-phase lion conservation initiative. It is Africa’s first genuine programme working to ethically re-introduce the offspring of captive-bred African lions back into the wild.
The Park welcomes guests and eco-tourists to its stunning campsite; this 3,000 acre private game park is a haven of tranquillity set in the African bush. Visitors can enjoy the relaxed environment as well as participate in the vast selection of world-class activities offered at the Park, including lion walks, elephant safaris, game viewing, horse-riding, birding (over 120 species on the Park!) fishing, and much more…
We offer an array of en-suite lodges and river tents, campsites and beautiful self-catering lodges; accommodation is available to suit all needs and budgets. To further complement the experience, safari-style, home cooked meals are available.
ALERT and Antelope Park have been the subject of a major UK TV wildlife documentary “LION COUNTRY” and the Park has also featured in a number of other wildlife shows including “Karina: Wild on Safari”. During 2012 Animal Planet is based at the Park filming a 14 part series called “Roaring with Pride” which will document the lion release programme in detail, explaining in depth how our organisation is helping to save the future of the African Lion.
Where Else In The World?
The group of responsible travel organisations of which we are a part (and founded at Antelope Park), African Encounter, were nominated in the 2012 World Travel Awards for the following:
2012 Africa’s Leading Conservation Company
2012 Africa’s Leading Responsible Tourism Company
We are extremely honoured by this acknowledgement of the work we as a group are doing, and proud of the incredible experiences we offer our guests across Southern and East Africa.
