The Bauchi State Cooperative Financing Agency Limited came into existence in 1976 following the creation of Bauchi State. It was carved out from the Old North Eastern State Cooperative Financing Agency Limited.

The Agency is an Apex Cooperative Organisation and is owned by over 3000 registered primary Cooperative societies in all the Local Government Areas of Bauchi State with over 90% of the members as farmers.

With the expansion of the former enclave Gombe Agricultural Development Project (GADP) to cover the erstwhile Bauchi State, in 1980, the Cooperative Financing Agency (CFA) was supposed to operate under the Bauchi State Agricultural Development Project as the credit unit providing credit facility to farmers.

The Bauchi Cooperative Financing Agency (BCFA) is affiliated to both National and State Bodies such as the Cooperative Federation of Nigeria (CFN), National Cooperative Financing Agency of Nigeria (CFAN) and the Bauchi Cooperative Federation respectively thereby promoting the cooperative principle of cooperation among cooperatives.
