e-Barcs Microfinance Bank Limited (initially known as e-Barclays Microfinance Bank Ltd) was incorporated on the 28th of April, 2008 as a limited liability company with registration number 744340. Based on the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria to undertake microfinance business, it commenced banking business on the 6th of August 2008.
The Bank’s statutory obligation to the micro segment of the economy is to accept deposits and grant credit facilities to customers in order to meet the unattended financial needs and aspirations of this vital sector of the economy. We aim to reach the un-banked/ under- banked and achieve their financial inclusion into the Nigerian banking system.
The bank has achieved its value proposition by maintaining a focus on expanding, adopting various strategies and developing banking products tailored to suit her target market and customized to meet the expectations of her customers and prospects.
Within five years of its existence, the bank has carved out a niche for itself in the Microfinance services industry as a leading microfinance Bank. And as a firm believer in the Nigerian economy, the bank has continued to invest its resources in the acquisition of latest technology, recruitment of best personnel, and expansion of services to the under-banked areas of the Federal Capital Territory believing that these actions would enable it meet the demands of a competitive, dynamic and an emerging market .
We continue to expand the rich heritage of excellent, flawless banking which we are noted for. In recent times we are extensively organizing women’s groups in Gwagwa, Karimo, Jiwa, Dei Dei, Jabi, and Utako areas of the Abuja Municipal Area Council for purposes of poverty alleviation and women economic empowerment. The main focus is on group organization, capacity building and graduated micro lending. Since the inception of the programme, we have reached out to over 500 women and still counting.
