The creation of Nasarawa state on first October, 1996 by the military administration gave birth to the idea of a specialist hospital in Lafia which was eventually commissioned April 1999 by the Head of states General Abdulsalam Abubakar (GCFR,DOS,MNI). However the previous administration of Governor Abdullahi Adamu (Sarkin Yakin Keffi) sets in motion the necessary machineries to transform the into a working and functional tertiary health institution that will stand the test of time. It is pertinent to note that the hospital was built on concrete aims and objective to enable it function adequately.
