Kirinyaga District Farmers Savings and Credit Co-operative Society (SACCO) was started as a Union Banking Section of the Kirinyaga District Farmers Union (KDFU) to provide banking services to the farmers in Kirinyaga District who were mainly coffee growers. It became a SACCO in 1998 when Kirinyaga District Farmers union was split into two. The banking section was created to offer financial services while the union was required to offer services such as leasing farm equipment to farmers.
Currently, the sacco serves more than 100,000 members drawn mainly from farming community in the wider Kirinyaga District.
