Where we started
Since 2012 Mezzanine has designed and built digital technology solutions for customers in the agricultural and healthcare spaces across Africa. As a South African-based company and a member of the Vodacom group, Mezzanine works with mobile network operators to bring about positive change in the lives of people through the benefits of the digital dividend.

We use our shared services platform to develop cost-effective and scalable solutions for governments, development agencies, multinationals and private businesses in South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, Mozambique, Zambia, Kenya and Tanzania. Today, Mezzanine manages over 25 active projects across these countries and is currently working with governments in Ethiopia and Uganda to increase digital benefit to last mile users in those nations.

The company has market-leading expertise in the agricultural, health, humanitarian relief, social services, financial inclusion and education spaces. Mezzanine has worked with multiple partners and knowledge experts because their managed solutions are designed to be partner- agnostic and can therefore be deployed by any accredited mobile network service-provider.

Mezzanine has experience in operating within highly complex ecosystems and has developed relationships and expertise across multiple points in the platform economics value-chain in order to deliver solutions that work for people with the lowest access to all that technology has to offer.

Our approach to the development of digital solutions is to co-create them with customers and host them on our Helium platform. Helium is our proprietary server and hosting environment that guarantees high levels of data security and integration with any mobile network operator and chosen method of communication. It is operated in South Africa and provides round-the-clock tech support with highly skilled engineers that ensure constant up time. Helium safeguards the data that we collect on behalf of our customers and guarantees that it is protected.

In 2019, two of our digital technology solutions were recognised by Fortune magazine on its Change the World list of 52 companies around the globe that are driving measurable and positive change. These were LEAP, in partnership with Accenture, and the Stock Visibility Solution (SVS), in partnership with Vodacom Business.
