OOU Microfinance Bank Limited is a limited liability company duly incorporated in Nigeria under the 2007 Companies and Allied Matters Act and is regulated by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) as a fully-fledged microfinance bank. Established in 2003, the bank began operations as a community bank in March 2003. However, following CBN guidelines, which required all Community Banks to transform to Microfinance Banks, the Bank subsequently changed its name to Olabisi Onabanjo University Microfinance Bank (MFB) Limited with effect from 31st December, 2007 and thereby started full operations on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) license.
OOU Microfinance Bank Limited was established purposely to provide financial services to the people at the grass root, that is, the unbanked and the under-banked segment of the society, to scale them up economically above the poverty level, which is One Dollar purchasing power parity.
