Rakops River Lodge began operations in March 2012. It is located 10km from Rakops village in Xhwitshaa area. The vegetation found in the area is similar to that of Ntwentwe Pans, comprising mainly short (setshi) bushes and open wide flat spaces with no trees on the horizon. The area is frequented by various animals including the Makgadikgadi elephants, elands, ostriches and different types of fish during the winter.
