Faulu Microfinance Bank, a subsidiary of The UAP Old Mutual Group in Kenya, is regulated by The Central Bank of Kenya, a member of both the Kenya Bankers’ Association (KBA) and the Association of Microfinance Institutions (AMFI).
The Bank is renowned for Financial Transformation via the provision of Financial Education and Integrated Financial Services that include Banking, Savings, Investment and Insurance.
Faulu was founded as a programme of Food for the Hungry International (FHI), a Christian relief and development organization, which began with a pilot micro enterprise lending project in the Mathare slums east of Nairobi in 1992. As the methodologies and systems were defined, it formally became the Faulu Loan Scheme in 1992. Finally in October 1994, Faulu Kenya officially came into being and was registered as a limited liability company in 1999. In 2009, Faulu was the first microfinance organization in Kenya to receive it’s deposit taking licence from the Central Bank of Kenya.
