Welcome to the site dedicated to the Martyrs of Paimol!
It is our hope that this site informs the world of the significance of Daudi and Jildo’s martyrdom and the context in which they strengthened Christianity in Northern Uganda. Beatified by Pope John Paul II in 2002, these martyrs’ feast day is a week long celebration of Faith, Courage, Hope, Love and zeal to evangelize running from October 13th to 20th. These days of prayers, Holy Eucharistic Celebrations, Novenas, rosaries, way of the Cross, fasting and alms-giving mark the annual pilgrimage to Paimol and the celebration of the martyrs as witnesses to Christ. The exciting recent construction of the wiPolo shrine in Paimol established a large altar before which pilgrims can attend Holy Mass and celebrate the feast day of the martyrs!
Feel free to explore the site and learn more about this two brave young catechists whose impacts for good have begun with their heroic death in 1918 and still yet to be seen.
Prayer
Lord,
You enkindled in the hearts of the blessed catechists Daudi and Jildo an ardent desire to proclaim the Gospel, and through their martyrdom strengthened the early growth of the Church in Uganda.
By their example, strengthen us in our faith, and grant that we may share it with our brothers and sisters. Through their intercession, give us the grace we need in this moment….(mention what you want of the martyrs)
And may we all come to enjoy the fruits of your redemption.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever.
Amen.
