Chronologiquement, il a exist\u00e9 entre 1625 et 1900 et sa capitale \u00e9tait Mushenge. Mais le territoire et le peuple existent toujours aujourd\u2019hui mais ne constituent qu\u2019une ethnie de la RDC dans le Kasa\u00ef-Occidental et le Sankourou.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Naissance du royaume<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Les Ba-Kuba, un peuple Bantou, sont \u00e0 l\u2019origine de la fondation du royaume Kuba. A la base ils \u00e9taient des \u00c9tats distincts. Sous la houlette du h\u00e9ros Woto, ils d\u00e9cid\u00e8rent de se r\u00e9unir en conf\u00e9d\u00e9ration au 17e si\u00e8cle, pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment en 1625. C\u2019est ainsi que naquit le royaume du Kuba avec pour premier roi, Woto. Ce dernier a la r\u00e9putation de se r\u00e9incarner dans le corps de ses successeurs au tr\u00f4ne. Il a eu selon la l\u00e9gende, une dur\u00e9e de vie de 121 ans. Parmi les peuples qui se sont mis ensemble pour former le Kuba, il y a les Luba, les Leele, les Pende, les Dengese et les Wongo. Mais aussi une dizaine d\u2019autres \u00c9tats-Bantous.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Apog\u00e9e du royaume<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Le royaume du Kuba doit son apog\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019ing\u00e9niosit\u00e9 des diff\u00e9rents monarques qui se sont succ\u00e9d\u00e9s \u00e0 sa t\u00eate. Dans les ann\u00e9es 1630 tout d\u2019abord, le roi Shyaam a Mboul a Ngoong d\u00e9veloppe dans le royaume les techniques de culture du manioc, des haricots et du tabac. Ainsi l\u2019empire Kuba se sp\u00e9cialisa dans la production agricole et devint m\u00eame exportateur ce qui fit son extr\u00eame richesse entrainant une riche production artistique stimul\u00e9e par la demande grandissante des aristocrates et de la cour royale. Ces techniques il les auraient apprises dans le Bas-Congo. Il enseigne \u00e9galement \u00e0 son peuple le tissage, la broderie, une nouvelle technique de forge et de sculpture du bois.<\/p>\n<p>Shamba Bolongolongo, 9e roi de Kuba vint avec le tissage du raphia et la sculpture du bois. Des savoir-faire qui ont rendu le peuple de Kuba une r\u00e9f\u00e9rence dans le domaine de l\u2019art en Afrique. L&rsquo;art est sous forme de statues, peignes, porte rasoirs, boites \u00e0 fard stylis\u00e9, coupe c\u00e9phalomorphes, masque de danse, \u00e9toffes tiss\u00e9es en fibre raphia et brod\u00e9es. Aujourd\u2019hui encore, de nombreux objets d\u2019art issus du royaume Kuba sont entrepos\u00e9s dans de c\u00e9l\u00e8bres mus\u00e9es occidentaux tels que The British Museum (Royaume-Uni), le Dallas Museum of Art (USA), le Smithsonian Institution (USA), le mus\u00e9e du Quai Branly (France) et le Mus\u00e9e royal de l&rsquo;Afrique centrale \u00e0 Tervuren (Belgique).<\/p>\n<p><strong>D\u00e9clin du royaume<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>L\u2019instabilit\u00e9 politique dans la r\u00e9gion du Kongo amorce la chute du royaume Kuba. Les Lubas envahirent le territoire et les autorit\u00e9s Kuba perdirent leur souverainet\u00e9. Profitant de ce passage tumultueux, les Belges envahirent le royaume et le firent sombrer d\u00e9finitivement en 1904.
