{"id":25801,"date":"2023-02-19T19:09:05","date_gmt":"2023-02-19T19:09:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/appsaf.apieproject.com\/news\/?p=25801"},"modified":"2023-02-19T19:09:07","modified_gmt":"2023-02-19T19:09:07","slug":"afriquatuors-ou-lart-de-secouter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/appsaf.apieproject.com\/news\/fr\/2023\/02\/19\/afriquatuors-ou-lart-de-secouter\/","title":{"rendered":"Afriquatuors, Ou L\u2019Art De S\u2019Ecouter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u00c0 l\u2019origine d\u2019Afriquatuors, il y a le pari un peu fou de deux amoureux de la musique : rejouer des standards de l\u2019\u00e9poque des grands orchestres africains subsahariens, quand les guitares \u00e9lectriques s\u2019invitent \u00e0 compter des ann\u00e9es 1960 \u00e0 la table des traditions, avec des instruments d\u2019ordinaire d\u00e9di\u00e9s \u00e0 la musique classique occidentale. Cette aventure peu banale, on la doit \u00e0 Julien Reyboz, ing\u00e9nieur du son et \u00e0 son comp\u00e8re Christophe Cagnolari, compositeur et saxophoniste. En 2019, dans le cadre du festival Africolor et sous l\u2019impulsion de son directeur S\u00e9bastien Lagrave, ils ont invent\u00e9 Afriquatuors.<\/p>\n<p>La cr\u00e9ation poursuit aujourd\u2019hui son odyss\u00e9e sous forme d\u2019album, une r\u00e9jouissante galette, et de concerts. Preuve que le jeu en valait la chandelle et que l\u2019exercice ne relevait pas seulement d\u2019une prouesse technique mais bien d\u2019un renouvellement artistique. Aux manettes de la table de mixage et \u00e0 la prise de son, \u0153uvre Julien Reyboz. Aux arrangements et \u00e0 la direction artistique, Christophe Cagnolari. Pour donner corps \u00e0 ce projet, ils ont embarqu\u00e9 dans cette r\u00e9\u00e9criture deux quatuors \u2013 un \u00e0 cordes (violons, violoncelle, contrebasse) et un \u00e0 vent (basson, clarinettes, cor) \u2013 deux percussionnistes et quatre voix notoires du continent noir, Ballou Canta, Sekouba Bambino, Sam Mangwana et Tina Kloutse. Ensemble, ils nous introduisent \u00e0 cette musique de chambre un peu particuli\u00e8re, convient Christophe Cagnolari : \u00ab une chambre avec des lits \u00e0 baldaquin mais avec, accroch\u00e9s au mur, des portraits de Franco Luambo Makiadi \u00bb, monument de la rumba congolaise.<\/p>\n<p>Au menu des reprises donc, le maestro Franco. Mais aussi les chansons \u00e0 succ\u00e8s de son compatriote Papa Wemba, du Camerounais Francis Bebey, du fameux orchestre guin\u00e9en du Bembeya Jazz, du Nig\u00e9rian Isaiah Kehinde Dairo et du Gabonais Hilarion Nguema. Un r\u00e9pertoire vari\u00e9, repr\u00e9sentatif des belles heures de la musique africaine. Alors comment s\u2019y prendre pour l\u2019inscrire dans le cadre d\u2019une interpr\u00e9tation classique sans faillir ? Premi\u00e8re \u00e9tape, faire sonner autrement les instruments modernes ou traditionnels d\u2019origine. \u00ab Il a d\u2019abord fallu trouver le juste \u00e9quilibre sonore d\u00e9taille Christophe Cagnolari, parce qu\u2019une batterie, en termes de niveau sonore, prend beaucoup de place. Une guitare \u00e9lectrique, \u00e7a pose d\u2019autres questions. Comment par exemple reproduire les effets d\u2019une p\u00e9dale de Delay ? Un instrument a jou\u00e9, puis un autre en d\u00e9cal\u00e9, beaucoup plus faible derri\u00e8re. J\u2019ai d\u00fb ainsi inventer des proc\u00e9d\u00e9s. \u00bb Et \u00e7a fonctionne \u00e0 merveille.<\/p>\n<p>Au point que les confr\u00e8res des chanteurs Ballou Canta et Sekouba Bambino n\u2019en croyaient pas leurs oreilles. \u00ab Quand j\u2019ai fait \u00e9couter \u00e7a aux membres du Bembeya Jazz sourit Sekouba Bambino, griot et chanteur lead de cet orchestre mythique, impossible de leur faire entendre qu\u2019il n\u2019y avait pas de guitare \u00e9lectrique ! \u201cMais quel diable a fait \u00e7a\u201d, m\u2019ont-ils lanc\u00e9 ! \u00bb M\u00eame son de cloche pour Ballou Canta, qui reprend son propre titre Amour Madidina, un morceau enlev\u00e9 de soukouss, genre d\u00e9riv\u00e9 de la rumba dont il est l\u2019une des cheville-ouvri\u00e8res : \u00ab Christophe a r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 garder le groove du soukouss, ce qui n\u2019\u00e9tait pas \u00e9vident, il n\u2019y a que des guitares ! Il est parvenu \u00e0 faire sonner des cordes comme si des guitares jouaient. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>De leur c\u00f4t\u00e9, ces chanteurs ont d\u00fb s\u2019adapter pour passer d\u2019une musique souvent improvis\u00e9e \u00e0 une musique \u00e9crite et se d\u00e9poss\u00e9der de certaines habitudes. \u00ab C\u2019est vrai qu\u2019avec Afriquatuors, on a acquis une autre mani\u00e8re d\u2019affronter la musique, reconnait Ballou Canta, car nous, Africains, en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral, chantons au feeling. L\u00e0, il y avait une certaine discipline qu\u2019il fallait suivre. Mais on se cr\u00e9ait des espaces tout de m\u00eame, on se permettait parfois de sortir de l\u2019autoroute ! \u00bb Une adaptation \u00e0 double sens puisque les instrumentistes de formation classique ont aussi d\u00fb se mettre au diapason d\u2019une mani\u00e8re de faire tout africaine.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab Ils ne pouvaient pas juste rester coll\u00e9s sur leurs partitions, commente Christophe Cagnolari, \u00e0 un moment donn\u00e9, il fallait ouvrir ses oreilles car il y avait un rapport, une \u00e9nergie qui ne leur \u00e9taient pas famili\u00e8re. Sur sc\u00e8ne, c\u2019est une vigilance diff\u00e9rente. C\u2019est une dialectique, chacun doit faire un pas vers l\u2019autre. Il ne suffit pas de jouer les notes mais il faut que \u00e7a danse aussi. Ambiancer, avec une \u00e9criture musicale assez exigeante, c\u2019est l\u00e0 la difficult\u00e9. \u00bb On retrouve finalement dans cet art de s\u2019\u00e9couter les uns les autres le propre de la musique de chambre : une formation r\u00e9duite, en opposition \u00e0 l\u2019orchestre symphonique, qui de ce fait, induit une interaction entre musiciens et une attention mutuelle. C\u2019est dans ce partage que Christophe Cagnolari a pu mettre en \u0153uvre la deuxi\u00e8me \u00e9tape de cette entreprise : emmener cette musique africaine ailleurs, la faire voyager, la doter d\u2019autres couleurs harmoniques. Avec toujours ce garde-fou, pr\u00e9cise-t-il : \u00ab la respecter, donc ne pas trop complexifier les choses pour en garder l\u2019esprit vivant. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>La reprise par Afriquatuors du Stabat Mater Dolorosa de Francis Bebey est sans doute la plus embl\u00e9matique de tout l\u2019album. Le fameux musicien camerounais \u00e9tait parti en 1997 du texte classique de cet hymne du Moyen \u00c2ge occidental pour lui adjoindre instruments traditionnels, modernes, sons d\u2019ambiance et cr\u00e9er sa propre m\u00e9lodie. Chant\u00e9 en fran\u00e7ais et en anglais, ce titre est devenu un classique africain. Vingt-cinq ans plus tard, il refait le chemin inverse avec notre arrangeur fran\u00e7ais. \u00ab Ce morceau parle finalement de ces ping-pongs entre les cultures, conclut Christophe Cagnolari. Il illustre bien le fait qu\u2019elles sont dans un \u00e9change permanent, elles n\u2019appartiennent \u00e0 personne et il faut qu\u2019elles continuent \u00e0 circuler. \u00bb Comme l\u2019assure Ballou Canta, avec Afriquatuors, le public amateur de musique classique ne sera pas d\u00e9pays\u00e9.
