Morocco\u2019s Taekwondo national team led the general classification for male and female athletes in the 2022 African Taekwondo Championship after winning 15 medals.<\/p>\n
The team secured eight gold medals, three silvers, and four bronzes in the continental tournament organized in Kigali, Rwanda from July 14 to 17.<\/p>\n
Moroccan taekwondoists won seven medals during the opening games, including four golds.<\/p>\n
The medals went to Ayoub El Bassel in the under 87 kilograms (kg) weight category, Fatima-Ezzahra Aboufaras in the greater than 73 kg, Nada Laaraj in the under 57 kg, and Nezha Elaasal in the under 49 kg.<\/p>\n
In the under 58 kg weight category, Omar Lakhal received a silver medal for his performance on the first day of the tournament. Meanwhile, Fai\u00e7al Saidi and Youssef Boatris secured two bronze medals in the respective weight categories, under 68 kg and under 80 kg.<\/p>\n
On July 15, the Moroccan team won eight additional medals, including four golds, two silvers, and two bronzes.<\/p>\n
Three of the gold medals went to female athletes Soukaina Sahib, Oumaima Bouchti, and Safia Salih. Abdelbasset Wasfi also secured gold in the under 63 kg weight category. Ahmed Nasser from Egypt placed second, while Fares Boujemai and Maman Mansour Chipkaou from Tunisia and Nigeria respectively won bronze<\/p>\n
Soukaina Sahib competed in the under 46 kg weight category for female players, placing first ahead of Niger\u2019s Zaraou Abdou, followed by Egypt\u2019s Habiba Ahmed and Mali\u2019s Aissata Mohamed Siby, who both secured bronze.<\/p>\n

Like Sahib, Bouchti led the under 53 kg female category, followed by Tunisia\u2019s Ouhoud Ben Aoun. Senegal\u2019s Ndeye Maty Sarr and Egypt\u2019s Maram Ezat tied for third.<\/p>\n
In the under 62 kg female category, Safia Salih took the leadIvorian Koumba Nanah Ibo placed second while Senegalese Yacine Diaw and Egyptian Nadine Mahmoud tied for third<\/p>\n
Morocco\u2019s two silver medals went to Hamza Hicham in under 54 kg and Dounia Sabir in under 73 kg, while Soufiane El Asbi and Ayoub Lkini took home the North African country\u2019s bronzes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
