We realise this is a terrible experience for our clients and apologise for the inconvenience if you have tried to make use of our banking app, USSD and internet banking in the last 24 hours,\u201d said Capitec in a statement to IT News Africa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are absolutely committed to resolving this as soon as possible and have a team of technology experts correcting the problem.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>DownDetector users began reporting outages in the early hours of Thursday morning, but the first major outage spike was recorded around 7 AM.<\/p>\n<p>Capitec has been plagued occasional outages on its services in recent years, and customers have been very vocal about Thursday\u2019s outage on social media.<\/p>\n<p>Capitec has not announced why the service is experiencing connectivity problems but it seems to be a wide-ranging issue with \u201cCapitec\u201d trending on South Africa\u2019s Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>The bank is one of the largest in the country and its mobile banking app is incredibly popular, having reached the number 1 spot on both the South African Google Play and Apple app store charts in 2020.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Capitec South Africa has apologised to its customers for any inconveniences caused by ongoing outage issues on its mobile banking app and other digital services.
