The Royal Flush African Fashion International (AFI) launch party was a star-studded indulgence affair attended by celebrities, dignitaries and leading African fashion designers.<\/p>\n
Guests enjoyed a night filled with fashion, music by DJ Zinhle, Mo Flava, Murdah Bongz, and bespoke Royal Flush Gin cocktails.<\/p>\n
The fashion show showcased the latest work of some of the continent\u2019s most cutting edge fashion designers, many of whom have been part of AFI for many years.<\/p>\n
AFI has become one of the leading fashion companies on the continent and has played a major role in shining a spotlight on the work created by African designers.<\/p>\n
A few weeks before the big affair, Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe of the AFI spoke about the significance of celebrating Africa\u2019s creative gifts.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt AFI, we have spent 15 years building the best one-stop lifestyle platform for consumers looking for unique African fashion and guiding sellers to reach a global, premium market. We remain an optimistic celebrator of Africa\u2019s creative gifts.”<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile many may see this year as doom and gloom for African designers and retailers, with the new House of Nala store we are creating a safety net for all stakeholders, allowing them to build and grow through a crisis instead of succumbing to it,\u201d said Moloi-Motsepe.<\/p>\n
The fashion featured a well-curated mix of pan-African industry icons as well as some of the rising stars of the fashion industry.<\/p>\n
This season\u2019s AFI Fashion Week Joburg 2022 included seasoned talents such as Gavin Rajah (South Africa), Alia Bare (Senegal), Eric Raisina (Madagascar), Kreyann (Cameroon) and Taibo Bacar (Mozambique), sharing the stage with rising fashion brands which included Imprint, Indoni Fashion House (South Africa), Gvllvnt (South Africa), and Suitability (South Africa).<\/p>\n
Other exciting fashion brands showcasing were Lebo Marhafe (Botswana), Nguo (Botswana), Kaylaamiel Creations (Botswana), Sisters of Afrika (Senegal), House of Stevolution (South Africa), Seditsi Collection (South Africa) and Thando Thabethe\u2019s Thabooty (South Africa).<\/p>\n
AFI Fashion Week Joburg was also a celebration of 15 years since the formation of African Fashion International, and this year\u2019s was the first AFI Fashion Week hosted within South African borders, after AFI showcased in Abu Dhabi and Kasane, Botswana, earlier this year.<\/p>\n
