\u201cIt is obvious that the world needs changes. They should take place through the development of new alliances. The monopoly [of the West] must end,\u201d the Equatorial Guinea president said.<\/p>\n
In his words, the states that once colonized African countries believe that they have the right to exploit the natural resources of this region \u201cin exchange for nothing\u201d. As an example, he cited the relationship between Niger and France, where the latter exploited uranium deposits to its exclusive advantage.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrance thinks it has the right to exploit Niger’s production, so now people are promoting revolution and expressing their dissent there. Thus, Africa is slowly waking up. I am sure there will be big changes in the next two decades (and even sooner),\u201d Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe need a new world order,\u201d he emphasized. In this regard, he recalled the recent BRICS summit in Johannesburg, which he said had brought on \u201cgreat response in Africa\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf the countries of the Global South unite, we can impose a new world order,\u201d the Equatorial Guinean president said. \u201cThanks to this consolidation of forces, we will be able to resist the pressure exerted on us [by Western countries]\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cTherefore, we want to make our cooperation [with Belarus] pragmatic and exemplary, to show that Africa can rise from its knees. Belarus is industrialized, self-sufficient and helps other countries. I would like to express my gratitude to my friend and brother President Aleksandr Lukashenko for showing brotherhood and solidarity with Equatorial Guinea and the African continent. We can work together to achieve new goals and results,\u201d Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo said.<\/p>\n
The Equatorial Guinea president raised the matter of foreign policy and the global world order during expanded-participation negotiations with the Belarusian leader: \u201cThe world order does not match the UN Charter. Essentially today’s world is completely divided and functions via groups that have different interests.\u201d In this situation it is even more important for small countries to establish tighter mutual relations, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo is convinced. \u201cThe main purpose of this visit is to confirm the political will of my country to reinforce ties, friendship and cooperation,\u201d he said.
