Highlighting a proactive approach, Mutati stated that the established centres would not merely offer internet access but would also function as educational hubs for digital literacy and skills programs. These programs encompass digital entrepreneurship and innovation, fostering job opportunities and empowerment.<\/p>\n

The hub\u2019s services extend to various electronic government functions, including trading licenses, cooperative registration, road taxes, and social cash transfers. Mutati underscores the government\u2019s dedication to inclusivity, ensuring every citizen benefits from the digital transformation. He emphasizes that empowering citizens with digital skills is as crucial as providing internet access.<\/p>\n

On December 18, 2023, the Minister made a notable announcement, revealing the successful expansion of fibre connectivity to seven neighbouring countries through tax incentives and concessions. This collaborative effort between the government and the private sector aims to enhance digital infrastructure.<\/p>\n

The beneficiaries of this initiative include the Democratic Republic of Congo, the United Republic of Tanzania, Malawi, Botswana, Namibia, and Angola, with Mozambique being the exception. However, the government has assured that efforts to connect Mozambique to the fibre network are in progress, with completion expected by June 2024.<\/p>\n

Minister Mutati also disclosed plans to construct a Tier 3 data center and innovation hub in the Lusaka South Multi-Facility Economic Zone in the upcoming year.
