Wizkid and Tems\u2019 nomination follows their loss at the recently held Grammy Awards where they were nominated in the Best Global Music Performance category for the hit \u2018Essence\u2019. They now face competition from Doja Cat, Silk Sonic, Giveon and Justin Bieber, who himself is nominated alongside Wizkid and Tems for his involvement in a remix of the track.<\/p>\n
\u2018Essence\u2019 is off Wizkid\u2019s Made in Lagos album, which became the longest charting album on the Billboard World Albums chart. The Afrobeats offering surpassed Cape Verdean singer Cesaria Evora\u2019s eponymous album, which held the 27-year record with 66 weeks on the chart.<\/p>\n
Wizkid received seven nominations at the 2016 BBMAs for his track \u2018One Dance\u2019 featuring Drake, winning the Top R&B Song, Top R&B Collaboration and Top Streaming Song (Audio) awards that year.<\/p>\n
