One of the stars who will be headlining the show, Berita, said she felt “truly honoured and excited to be part of this legendary festival that is celebrating great South African music”.

Berita, given name Gugulethu Khumalo, described the line-up as an incredible celebration of South Africa’s finest artists and performers.

The multi-award-winning musician said that sharing her musical gift with the world was a privilege for her, adding that:

I feel privileged to contribute my gift of music to the world. I do it, because it is my calling, I do not see it as work. The trophies and awards are great, but what fulfills me the most is touching people’s lives, and being a part of life’s journey through music
She is looking forward to seeing Mafikizolo perform, and expressed her fascination with the group’s ability to reinvent its sound.

And of the vibe on the day, she promised:

No stone will be left unturned; it’s going to be an unforgettable show. We are going to dance, sing, cry and laugh together. My band and I have been rehearsing for weeks. We are looking forward to giving music lovers an electric performance.
The Afro-soul artist’s year seems to be on a positive trajectory despite her being constantly harassed on Twitter by her estranged husband, Nota Baloyi, after she revealed that she left their marital home in January.

Her song, Ndicel’ikiss was recently featured on a Netflix series, The Brave Ones. She also revealed that she was happy to be back on stage and is booked and busy this summer.

Music lovers can look forward to performances by Makhadzi, Don Laka, Mango Groove, Tu Nokwe, Master KG, Ringo Madlingozi, Sleeze, Ami Faku, Skwatta Kamp and more.
The festival starts at 10am.
