A local hip-hop music artist, producer and songwriter, Honest Khumalo also known as ‘Honest Diebolic’, is set to release his four track- Extended Play (EP) in November titled Middle Passage.
In 2019, Riverside-based Khumalo released his mixtape which received a positive reception from hip-hop music lovers.
He explained what Middle Passage was about. “In its true essence, the Middle Passage refers to the trade where Africans, densely packed into ships, were transported across the Atlantic Ocean to the West Indies to be sold as slaves. The song also aims to reflect how artists are slaves to art and creativity. The challenges they face and the goals they have to reach greater heights.”
Khumalo hopes his fans and music lovers will receive his EP with warm hearts and support his work. “Middle Passage will be my music offering into hip-hop and the music industry this year. The song paints a mental picture of all the battles I faced in life and on my music journey. It is the allegory of the trials and tribulations that I went through as a hungry music artist.”
Khumalo said his new music project will be available on all digital music platforms for streaming and purchase.
