This week, the Recording Academy announced the nominees for the 65th annual Grammy Awards, which will be handed out on February 5, 2023 in Los Angeles.
Musuuza went to Instagram to express what an honor and a great time this is for his country to make it to the list of nominees for the awards.
“I couldn’t believe that I’m nominated in @recordingacademy,” he shared on Instagram.
And then tweeted: “We are so grateful to God almighty for such a great moment in our country. Fellow artists thank you, this is for all of us. Uganda thank you for raising me. East Africa stand up.”
Musuuza was nominated alongside Ghana’s Rocky Dawuni; South Africa’s Wouter Kellerman; Zakes Bantwini and Nomcebo Zikode; and Burna Boy are all running for Best Global Music Performance.
Five-time Grammy Award winner Angélique Kidjo has also now been nominated for Best Global Music Album.
Nigerian superstar, Tems, is also in the running alongside international rappers, Future and Drake, in the Best Melodic Rap Performance category for the song, ‘Wait For U’.
