Asake Triumphs At The Future Awards Africa 2023

The musician bested fellow Nigerian act Ayra Starr, Cameroon’s Libianca, French-Malian singer Aya Nakamura, and French singer-songwriter of Cameroonian origin Tayc.

Presented by social enterprise The Future Project, the awards honour outstanding feats by young people between the ages of 18 and 31 in different fields.

This year’s awards, the 17th edition ran under the theme, Defying Odds, Inspiring Greatness, and rewarded achievements in 25 categories, including dance, sport, film, entrepreneurship and tech.

Last year, Tems took home the music prize. Other past winners include Wizkid, who won the 2017 Young Person of the Year award, as well as Davido and Burna Boy, who won the music categories in 2017 and 2019, respectively.
