It has now announced that it has 20.3m monthly active users (MAUs) – up 74% from June 2021.
This is slightly ahead of its expectations, and Mdundo saw steady growth across its many markets in Africa. Mdundo says that its users are an audience with limited access to streaming services and social media apps. The Kenyan-based company has 2.8m MAUs in its home country, but the biggest country is Nigeria with a total of 4.9m MAUs, followed by South Africa with 3.7m and Tanzania with 2.4m. Several other countries have over 100k MAUs of Mdundo: Uganda, Ethiopia, Ghana, Congo – Kinshasa, Zambia, Sudan, Cameroon, Angola, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Rwanda, Côte d’Ivoire, South Sudan and Malawi.
